Meet The Mitchell Bay, constructed in 1932, and a distinguished member of Canada's World War II "Gumboot Navy." The Gumboot Navy, established in 1939 as war tensions escalated during WWII, played a crucial role in patrolling the BC coast.
Recruits transformed their personal fishing boats, outfitting them with guns and essential equipment to safeguard our shores. It's a piece of history that we hold dear and honor in our very identity.
